When money is tight and operational requirements are at risk, a Manager has to facilitate
an atmosphere that allows the whole staff to become creative problem solvers.
Invite creative problem-solving and constructive feedback from your staff by following these
brainstorming guidelines:
- Identify a specific goal to enhance revenue or reduce expenses
- Set and keep to a time limit
- Keep the session relaxed
- Open the session with an idea of your own or from a volunteer
- Do not allow judgment of ideas during brainstorming
- Include all ideas presented
- Encourage piggy-backing on ideas
- Ensure that all ideas are valued
- Write everything down as it is spoken
- Ask for more ideas
